Too Expensive! Suggestions

I love this game but all the characters are like a million coins or something. I have been playing forever and its not easy to earn a lot of coins. Also for characters like spike you need to get 200 guitars in the mystery box, I hardly ever get them! I only have 5. And would it kill them to make some brand new characters for the main game and not the tour???
